Paper account

A brokerage account that isn’t real, inside BotStock. It has a cash balance, positions and orders like a real one, and your strategies trade it exactly as they would a brokerage — except the fills are simulated against the live quotes, and the money is practice money.

Say you start with $10,000 and a strategy buys 10 shares of a stock at $100.15. The paper account now holds 10 shares and $8,998.50 in cash. Sell them at $105 and it’s $10,048.50. Nothing left the building; the numbers are just as honest as a real account’s would be, and a little more pessimistic on purpose.

It is not the same thing as a brokerage’s sandbox. Tradier’s sandbox is a rehearsal of the connection; the paper account needs no connection at all.
